O debate do aborto: a votação do aborto legal no Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Este artigo apresenta e discute os argumentos dos dois representantes - igrejas e movimento feminista - presentes no debate travado no parlamento gaúcho por ocasião da votação do projeto de lei do Deputado Marcos Rolim (PT) sobre o aborto legal. O texto é analisado a partir da perspectiva teórico-metodológica de Bourdieu, entendendo a religião como um sistema simbólico presente na estruturação dos habitus dos indivíduos. O debate é compreendido como uma disputa pelo monopólio da verdade. Neste conflito, duas formas distintas de pensar a questão do aborto, afirmam-se como representantes legítimas de uma visão de mundo, e nele, uma visão prevaleceu: a religiosa.This article presents and discusses the two arguments - those of the church and the feminist movement - within the debate in the gaúcho State Assembly in the voting of Representative Marcos Rolim's bill on legal abortion. The conflict is analyzed from Bourdieu's theoretical-methodological perspective, understanding religion as a symbolic system present in the structuring of the individuals' habitus. The debate is understood as a dispute for the monopoly of truth. In this conflict, two different forms of conceiving abortion are affirmed as legitimate representatives of a worldview, and in it, a vision prevailed: the religious one.
