Abstract

This chapter provides a relatively brief introduction to the wide variety of instruments used in the gamma-ray spectroscopy of nuclear materials. Analog and digital multichannel analyzers (MCAs) used for gamma-ray spectroscopy systems is discussed. The process of selecting an appropriate detector for different NDA applications is presented. The many components of an analog amplifier and digital pulse processing are discussed.
