Abstract

The quality and availability of information on the status of elephants in Africa vary considerably across the continent. As with the elephant pictured on the cover, some areas are rich in detailed information, while in many others we are still in the dark. This edition of the African Elephant Status Report incorporates a new Information Quality Index to better highlight the extent of this variation in the quality and availability of elephant population data.
