Cultivars of the English oak (Quercus robur) are described and discussed. Most English oak cultivars currently available in the nursery trade are propagated by seed and, although selected to a standard as seedlings in the nursery, they still possess considerable genetic diversity in many characteristics. Such cultivars are not "clones", and the potential variation in non-morphological traits must be appreciated when selecting cultivars for planting or assessing their performance.
