Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the recent developments and future opportunities in the advanced applications of polymer nanocomposites. Polymer nanocomposites are composite materials where the reinforcing filler has at least one dimension in the nanometer scale. The incorporation of nanofillers into polymer matrices has been shown to significantly improve the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of the resulting materials. This chapter discusses the various methods used for the synthesis of polymer nanocomposites and highlights recent developments in the field. Furthermore, it outlines the potential applications of polymer nanocomposites in various fields, including aerospace, automotive, energy, and biomedical industries, among others. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the future opportunities and challenges in the development and commercialization of polymer nanocomposites.
