Identificación de indicios de descubrimientos científicos en artículos biomédicos mediante análisis de contenidos

Abstract

We report here a methodological proposal consisting of the comparison between the content of scientific articles, represented by the conclusion of the article in a format as phenomenon "1"- Relation-Phenomenon "2", with the content of a public Web-based ontology. This comparison was performed in order to identify traces of scientific discovery reported by the articleeven before its reference in the literature. Eighty-nine biomedical articles were manually analyzed. The results indicate that if the contents of the conclusion of an article are poorly represented in the ontology, this may be an indication of a significant discovery. One indication supporting this hypothesis is the fact that the article describing the discovery of the telomerase enzyme dates from 1985, but the term "telomerase" was only included in the MeSH ten years later, in 1995. © 2013 CSIC.
