Abstract
This article reports the results of the first stage of a longitudinal research project which purpose is to identify the algebraic structure of the expressions of generalizations the students, aged 10 to 12 years, produce only on their experience and previous knowledge without teaching or training in generalizations tasks. Prior to the enunciation of an expression, a process of generalization is recognized, which is considered as a continuous spiral of actions (Mason 1989, 1996). The generalization expressions that the students enunciated in the resolution of figural-numerical and numerical sequences are reported in this document. These expressions were classified into five categories, being in two of them, evidence of algebraic structure.
