Abstract

The starting point of this research is the identification of a normative and technical gap in planning areas of influence of reservoirs for power generation, understood these as water bodies in which an important part of water supply resources is concentrated. In this sense, a description of the problem and the importance of considering hydroelectric megaprojects as spatial analysis units is made; then, the determination of the land carrying capacity is proposed as a methodological tool, since it is considered that it functions as an Accumulative Impact Assessment, inasmuch as it allows to understand the configuration of the territory after the start of operation of the hydroelectric project and, based on this information, become an input for decision-making with technical support, that answer the question of what to do sustainably in those territories.
