Abstract

Recently the use of cinnamon has been suggested to improve the clinical situation of diabetics. The results of studies in recent years show that cinnamon can influence the decrease in fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, body mass index, total cholesterol and insulin resistance. Cinnamon shows anti-hyperglycemic properties, being the subtype of Ceylon cinnamon the one that provides the greatest effects. However, it is essential to increase studies in this field to offer patients the best care based on the latest evidence.
