Possibilities of GIS technologies in the mining industry

Abstract

The article considers the possibilities of geoinformation technologies in the mining industry. It notes that today geoinformation technologies are a modern version of an integrated information system that fully meets all current requirements. In this article, the author considers that the application of geoinformation technologies in the mining industry has a positive impact on the activities of geological exploration enterprises and mining companies. There is no doubt that the application of geoinformation technologies contributes to the solution of a wide range of tasks related to the minerals extraction and transportation. Moreover, in this study, the author made an attempt to assess conditions that determine the need for the introduction of geoinformation technologies in the considered field. In conclusion, the author pays attention to the advantages and disadvantages of such systems.
