Abstract

Input:output budgets of water and macronutrients over 2 yr are reported for unmodified snow tussock grassland: induced short (c.10 cm) blue tussock grassland; bare soil in replicated non-weighing lysimeters from upland sites, 4 on the Lammerlaw Range, Waipori Ecological District, Otago, and 3 on the Rock and Pillar Range, Rock and Pillar Ecological District, Otago. Values for alpine Celmisia viscosa herbfield and for a ryegrass-white clover (Lolium- Trifolium repens) pasture are included for the highest and lowest sites, respectively. -from Authors
