The aim of this paper is to review Luis Toharia publications between 1991 and 2009, which discuss the incorporation of women into the labor market, the socio-economic changes experienced by their presence in the workforce, their unequal position compared with men, and some institutional aspects related to the reconciliation of work and family life. It has been highlighted most interesting results and contributions regarding the methodology, data sources and the approach used. The main conclusion to be drawn is that gender inequalities still persist. Equality policies do not give the expected results, so there is still a long way to go.
