Abstract

Neurodegenerative disease is often accompanied by sleep disturbances. Disturbed sleep can have a significant impact on the patient's cognitive and physical function and may be associated with other psychiatric problems. Sleep problems are connected with a dysfunction in a neuronal mechanism, as well as consequence of the various conditions such as pain, depression or the effects of medications. The treatment approach to the patients with insomnia is difficult and based on biological and non-biological methods. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved) (journal abstract).
