Abstract

Blockchain technology has attracted a great deal of attention since its origins with Bitcoin in 2008. However, the uptake of this new technological paradigm in higher education has so far been slow. This paper presents the state of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency teaching in higher education in Norway. It also discusses the subject following experiences with a completed course on this topic at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (WNUAS) and reflects on the challenges of teaching a subject that is highly interdisciplinary in nature.
