The Challenges of Arabic Language Acquisition to the Non-Native Speakers in National Chengchi University, Taiwan: from the Perspective of the Current Students

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the challenges students who study Arabic as a second language in National Chengchi University encountered, from the perspective of the students. The constructed questionnaire is consisting of 39 sections from 5 different fields to point out the challenges faced by the students while learning Arabic in the university. The questionnaire was applied to a sample of 134 students from different academic years in the department of Arabic language and culture, National Chengchi University, Taiwan. The study shows that the most challenges came from the object language field, then teaching environment, and the teaching materials, and the factors for students, and the last challenge of students is the factors for teachers.
