Abstract

The author discusses how technology has changed work skills. She discusses how library employees at the University of Florida during the 1960s performed work by hand without computers and machines. She notes how the Internet and computers have changed library functions such as reference services and suggests that technology has decreased the ability of librarians to understand other tasks in the library system and affected the identity of library employees.
