Abstract

This paper discusses the Japan"s acts and propaganda prior to the occupation over the country called the Hindia Belanda in March 8, 1942. The popularity of Pan Asia slogan, which stimulated the nationalism spirit to be free from the West, enabled Japan to get more sympathy from the local people. The malaise disaster was also the other factor for the Japan to get support from them, especially owing to the cheap things coming to the country. Those two factors became the prominent key of Japan in provoking the local people that the Japan was the savior of the Hindia Belanda. The Hindia Belanda"s authority switched instantly to the Japan was due to the Japan"s spies around 1930-1942. Even, in the span of 1930-1942, there was the Japanese community which occupied almost the business system of the Hindia Belanda. This unseen system that was beyond the Hindia Belanda"s authority was then the threshold of the Japan"s coming.
