Efeitos da doença holandesa (‘Dutch disease’). Alguma evidência para a Argentina

Abstract

This paper analyzes the existence of the Dutch disease in the case of Argentina’s economy. The paper investigates the shocks in terms of trade and the shocks in the supply of agricultural sector (growing sector) on manufacturing output (real gdp), inflation rates and unemployment. The paper includes var models, with long-term restrictions, and quarterly data for Argentina, covering the period 1993-2015. The results show that external price shocks affect positively to manufacturing output and negatively to the unemployment rates. There would be no substantial evidence of the existence of the Dutch disease in this economy.
