Study of the workload in the performance of work of the operative personnel of the fire department of the Quevedo Canton

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the workload in the performance of work of the operative personnel of the fire department of the Quevedo Canton, in a sample of 76 members of the operative personnel of the aforementioned institution, selected through a non-probabilistic and intentional sampling. For this, a non-experimental, quantitative-descriptive cross-sectional design was used and a Likerk-type questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument. It was found that 51% of the total sample feel satisfied (a) with the distribution of assigned tasks; 69% stated that they receive support and help from their immediate superiors; 80% said they felt supported by their peers; 85% feel that it is emotionally exhausting work; being stress (47%) the factor with the greatest psychological demand; 66% consider that the work they do is physically exhausting; 37% stated that they had suffered trauma in the upper limbs. It is concluded that in the medium and long term, good labor practices should be increased for the benefit of the firefighters in particular and the development of the institution in general, so a positive execution in the workplace could be expected in the future.
