Abstract
This paper studies the effect of Kantoh region railways on “in-region” travel-time. Using both the Kantoh railway network data and a 100 points uniformly distributed, referring to the distance distribution, which can be calculated numerically in an arbitrary region, the paper compares the travel-time changes through the previously mentioned points and the distance distribution with and without the existence of the Kantoh railway network. Finally, the expansion of movable space by railway will be calculated, by comparing the two situations. © 2003, The City Planning Institute of Japan. All rights reserved.
