Abstract

Current-voltage curves for O evolution on Ir at pH 0.9, 1.9, 2.9, 13, and 14 show a pH dependence of overpotential in acid solns. of +18 to +48 mv./pH unit and in alk. solns. of -15 to -55 mv./pH unit. These results agree only with the \"electrochem. oxide\" path (Bockris, CA 50, 10573g) and not with that suggested by Krasilshchikov (CA 59: 1279g; 60: 15425d). [on SciFinder (R)]
