Forced free vibrations of a square plate

Abstract

The vibrations of a square plate with free edges that is forced at its center has been investigated experimentally and numerically. A two-step finite volume scheme is proposed and is tested against an exact solution to a related problem. The governing equation and numerical solution procedure were constructed to closely mimic the experiment. Good agreement was found between the numerical simulations and the experiments.
