Abstract

In the cangas of Serra dos Carajás there are five species of Vismia, which can be recognized by the foliar morphology in combination with presence or absence of glands on the petals and the arrangement of sepals on mature fruit. Vismia bemerguii, V. cayennensis, V. gracilis, V. cf. schultesii and V. tenuinervia occur, generally, in the transition between the forest and the cangas areas. In this work, we present the floristic treatment of the Hypericaceae from Carajás, as well as illustrations, photographs and taxonomic comments about the species.
