The magnitude of current information in contemporary society makes it increasingly urgent to acquire tools necessary for absorption, evaluation and use of this information by individuals. In this article, we argue that this path passes through reflective thinking and informational taste, provisions presented as essential contributions to the development of a critical information literacy. Therefore, we will use not only the research of information scientists about the critical aspects of information literacy, but also Paulo Freire's educational proposal for the development of critical thinking, as well as some notes of philosophers and other thinkers who have written about the taste for knowledge.
