Developmental dysphasia

Abstract

The study deals with developmental speech disorders known as developmental dysphasia. It is pointed out that, up to the present, this disorder is not conceived unequivocally and there does not exist a uniform theoretical platform for its research. In the first part theoretical approach to the study of developmental dysphasia are analysed that are mostly of partial character and lack a wider methodological basis. The second part informs of clinical-psychological findings of developmental dysphasia in different fields, e.g. investigations of interhemispheric relations in children with developmental speech disorders, psychological changes in the afflicted child as well as possibilities of correction and re-education. The need to conduct interdisciplinary research in this field is stressed, as well as the necessity of encouraging psychologists to devote themselves to children afflicted with this disorder.
