Modelo matemático de regresión multilineal de la valoración del Examen de admisión para la Educación Superior

Abstract

The access to university education, worldwide depends on the score obtained in an exam that evaluates several aspects of the knowledgement. In Ecuador this compulsory exam is called National Exam of Educational Evaluation “Ser Bachiller” and is conceived to select the students that count with the skills necessary to fulfill a university career. However, due to high percentages of repetition and desertion in different universities, many education professionals distrust the validity of the exam. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the score obtained in the admission university exam, National Exam of Educational Evaluation “Ser Bachiller”, and the overall approval of the leveling course subjects in the Escuela Politécnica Nacional, in Quito-Ecuador. The variables analyzed were: admission exam score, sex, study day, university career area and scores in the subjects of Physics, Mathematical foundations, Geometry and Trigonometry, Chemistry foundations and Language and Communication. A Pearson correlation matrix was performed to determine the correlation between the variables and multivariate regression models were used. A positive correlation between the analyzed subjects was obtained, which low value, prove that the score of the National Exam of Educational Evaluation “Ser Bachiller” is not a determinant factor in the approval of the leveling course of the EPN.
