Políticas de bienestar y control social en la minería del carbón. Las experiencias de Lota y Coronel en el siglo XX

Abstract

This article discusses the strategies of social control established by coal companies in Chile, since 1920 until mid-century and the ability of workers to resist them. It recognizes the control mechanisms exercised by these companies, associated with practices of industrial paternalism, perfected in those decades through a more complex design represented by the creation of the Welfare Departments.
