Abstract

This research aimed to survey the use of integrative and complementary practices in the context of fibromyalgia. This is an integrative review of the literature; the search was carried out in the following scientific databases: Pubmed, Scielo, Capes Periodic Portal, and the VHL portal. With the application of the first stage of the analysis of articles, there was the eligibility of 44 articles, with this, it was possible to observe that the topics addressed in these articles were in agreement with the objectives of our research and to evaluate the distribution in percentages of the articles published in the database; as a second stage, a careful qualitative analysis was possible to make the choice of 12 articles to compose our discussion. The use of integrative and complementary practices in the context of fibromyalgia enabled a new look at the context of care using techniques of meditation, acupuncture, auriculotherapy, ozone therapy, qigong, tai chi, osteopathy, and aromatherapy, making it possible to improve the quality of life and well-being of patients. Thus, looking through integrative practices has become an adjuvant means in the construction of care for patients with fibromyalgia.
