Abstract

A flow directed assembly of graphite oxide solution was used in the formation of free‐standing graphene oxide paper of approximate thickness of 100 μ m. The GO papers were characterised by XRD and SEM. Electrochemical characterization of the GO paper membrane electrode assembly revealed proton conductivities of 4.1 × 10 −2 S cm −1 to 8.2 × 10 −2 S cm −1 at temperatures of 25–90°C. A direct methanol fuel cell, at 60°C, gave a peak power density of 8 mW cm −2 at a current density of 35 mA cm −2 .
