Abstract

The patent information is the largest, well-classified and most up-to-date collection of technical documents on new and innovative technologies. To delicately explore all the patent documents on the topic interested, we develop a thought process to precisely target and completely cover the patent documents interested. The tips of the process include expanding the keywords with synonyms and equivalents, limiting the search in a short period of time, keeping out the keywords not interested, identifying other possible keywords to screen the patent owned by the leading assignees or inventors, and inspecting other possible International Patent Classifications (IPC) or United States Patent Classifications (UPC). Following the thought process, we can build a comprehensive patent search on human vaccine. Certainly, the search result searched should be updated frequently to keep the up-to-date information. © 2011 Landes Bioscience.
