Abstract

Comparing results obtained on myoglobin (Mb) and MbNO from different species and after excitation into different electronic states of the heme provides insight into the non exponential NO recombination dynamics. In addition, the vibrational relaxation dynamics of hot heme in deoxy-Mb are seen very clearly in the spectra, and the initial temperature is determined.
