Abstract

The text responds to critics levelled at the small book published under the title Reification, in which the author has intended to recover from Marx’s legacy the concept of reification and present him in the light of the theory of recognition. At first the text specifies the frame within the original attempt to recover the concept of reification was made, emphasizing its literal interpretation. Then the text comes to specific problems that arise from the suggestion to understand reification as a form of neglecting previous recognition. Based on the premise that the person (Mitmensch) is recognized in a non-cognitiv way, the author argues that the rotinization and habitualization of social practices with autonomized dehumanizing goals migh lead to forget the original recognition of another person.
