Abstract

AbstractIn order to evaluate thermal performance of a glazing system, the determination of fundamental properties of glazing system is necessary. To analyze the involvement of these properties, the heat transfer phenomena and the major factors affecting that transfer needs to be elaborately understood. The main aim of this article is to provide insight into different aspects of estimating heat transfer through various glazing systems, with special reference to ones with shading devices, and to critically discuss and identify areas of work that have been neglected or that need further investigation. The authors conclude that there is a need of exploring the potential of double-glazed windows with inter-pane blinds in the Indian climate and also for its justification through experimentation. The absence of quantification of percentage contribution of the control parameters in influencing the measured response is also highlighted as a gap in the literature review.
