Abstract

Several issues pertaining to the phenomenological description of rate-independent plasticity in crystalline solids are discussed. These include energy dissipation, the specification of initial plastic deformation, material symmetry and the modeling of scale-dependent response. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2011.
