We cannot ignore bias, especially if effects are small, but we need better methods for evaluating prevention systems

Abstract

Cochrane Review methods are rigorous in assessing bias. We cannot downplay bias, especially if effects are small or questionable, as in motivational interviewing for alcohol misuse prevention in young adults. An important question is how we should assess the value and impact of individually weak interventions within comprehensive prevention systems.
