PEMBELAJARAN IPS BERBASIS BUDAYA DALAM MENGHADAPI TANTANGAN GLOBALISASI

Abstract

Globalization has brought significant impacts on the field of education, particularly in maintaining local cultural values and identity. The increasingly massive flow of global culture has the potential to erode students’ character, morals, and local wisdom if it is not balanced with contextual education. This study aims to examine the role of culture-based Social Studies (IPS) learning in facing the challenges of globalization. The research method used is a literature review of various national journals relevant to Social Studies learning and culture. The findings indicate that culture-based Social Studies learning is able to strengthen cultural identity, foster tolerance, and increase students’ awareness of local values through the integration of culture into learning materials and instructional models, such as Project-Based Learning. In addition, the use of technology and local wisdom makes learning more meaningful and contextual. Therefore, culture-based Social Studies learning is an important strategy to mitigate the negative impacts of globalization while preserving local culture.
