Una mirada sobre la turistificación de la antropología del desarrollo en el Estado español

Abstract

This article reflects on the touristification of development anthropology in Spain summarizing the main ethnographic contributions of Spanish researchers. It focuses on the specificity of the anthropological gaze to the controversial relationship between tourism and development and it seeks to understand why a transition from the development anthropology towards the study of tourism occurs. As stated in the article, the reasons that explain this change in the Spanish anthropology are: 1. The relevance of tourism over the past decade in academia studies, 2. The expansion of tourism and foreign investments in the Latin American space, and 3. The introduction of tourism in the political agendas of the agencies engaged in development cooperation.
