This article explores the transformations of the shamanistic knowledge among the Marubo (Pano speaking people of the Javari Valley, AM, Brazil) in its relation with the writing. The focus is on the way the shamanism configures the crossovers between the alphabetical writing (and its final form, the book) and the notion of person, which is characterized by the body modification through the inscription of graphics (kene). What are the effects of the encounter between the processes of learning and memorizing evolved in writing and the processes evolved in the production of the body through ritual agency? What are the knowledge premises used by the Marubo shamanism to create an interface with the writing and its ways of producing knowledge? The development of such questions must, eventually, indicate the possible connections between the Marubo case and other Amerindian situations.
