Reviews the book, The New Digital Shoreline: How Web 2.0 and Millennials Are Revolutionizing Higher Education by Roger McHaney (2011). The goal of this book is to provide a baseline level of information for educators on the types of platforms and their uses. The book achieves this goal, without leaving the reader who has little technological savvy confused, and at the same time providing a refresher for those who have begun to experiment with technology and have a comfort level. What educators and administrators alike can take away from this book is the gift of awareness. Aside from the learning theory, the platforms, or how the Millennials are changing the higher education landscape, it is worth noting the way learning is being revolutionized. The context matters, but the bigger picture is that most of higher education may be ill-prepared for this revolution. Higher education took notice when the Millennials went to college, but now as they matriculate and graduate, and give way to following generations, higher education must be serious about reinventing the way it approaches education. The ability of higher education institutions to meet these tech savvy students will not only be a question of maintaining relevance, but also of maintaining survival.
