Abstract

Most authors presently agree that in motor neurone lesions sphincterotomy provides a reliable means of alleviating chronic retention due to detrusor-sphincter dysfunction. But, although early results may be very encouraging, one should consider that some patients are prone to fibro-sclerotic restenosis. Regular annual check-ups are therefore essential in order to avoid relevant complications. © 1976, International Spinal Cord Society. All rights reserved.
