Abstract

Direct bromination of adenine nucleotides was achieved by the use of bromine-water as brominating agent in the alkaline or buffer solution. By this method 8-bromoadenosine 2-′,3′- and 5′-monophosphate, 5′-di- and tri-phosphate, and 3′,5′-cyclic phosphate were synthesized in satisfactory yield. Mechanism of bromination of adenine nucleotides was discussed. © 1969, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
