Abstract

Together with power-electronic devices and photo-voltaic (PV) systems keep improving, there is expanding curiosity in non-isolated grid-tied PV inverters (GPV), which put forward reduced price, smaller volume, and enhanced efficiency than transformer-equipped inverters. Unfortunately, non-isolated GPV inverters with conventional topologies have a leakage current issue that must be addressed carefully. Controlling semiconductor losses and the Common Mode Voltage (CMV) are also critical issues in the development of PV inverter. At the moment, there are numerous topologies that provide good performance in terms of losses and CMV. In this research, mathematical analysis of four of the single phase non-isolated inverter topologies H4, H5, H6 and HERIC are carried out for power loss and CMV. Also simulations with MATLAB is used to validate the results obtained from mathematical analysis. This research will allow us to determine the features and disadvantages of each topology in regards with power loss, CMV and pricing.
