Abstract
New human cases associated with this event and the findings of public health investigations should be reported to EPIS-FWD (Epidemic Intelligence Information System for Food-and Waterborne Diseases and Zoonoses). ECDC and EFSA would encourage the competent authorities of food safety and public health sectors in the affected EU countries and at European level to continue sharing information on the epidemiological, microbiological and environmental investigations, including issuing relevant notifications using RASFF and the Early Warning and Response System (EWRS). RASFF is the official EU system for sharing information on hazards found in food and feed, the trade of potentially contaminated batches between Member States and the tracing of such batches. EWRS is the official channel for notifying cross-border threats to humans from communicable diseases. RASFF notifications should be completed with information on exposure to food for related human cases, as well as traceability information on the suspected food vehicles and analytical results to support traceability investigations.
