Abstract

Cores from the Lower Cretaceous shelf edge were obtained at DSDP Sites 390 and 392 (Leg 44) at the edge of the Blake Plateau. The shallow-water Lower Cretaceous limestones comprise three units which are, in ascending order: skelmoldic limestone (107+ m), oolitic limestone (29 m), and fenestral limestone (114 m).
