In 1801 the first newspaper published in Buenos Aires was the Telégrafo Mercantil, Rural, Político, Económico e Historiográfico del Río de la Plata.Under the management of Francisco Cabello y Mesa, the newspaper is positioned from the declarative fiction as an instrument to remove ignorance and old customs through the criticism that was expressed in different speech genres. Is analyzed the birth of the colonial press, the professional background of its editor and how its proposal was in line with the developed by the press of peninsular customs of the late eighteenth century.
