Abstract

A review with 64 refs. An account is given of procedures used for the extn. and concn. of PAHs from environmental samples and includes comments on Soxhlet, ultrasonic, microwave assisted, supercrit. fluid, accelerated solvent, and solid phase extn. procedures. Attention is directed to the advantages and disadvantages of these and details of their application to a wide variety of environmental samples are given. Exptl. procedures are provided for matrixes including dust, water, soil, sediment, fat, fish, and liquor, and include details of sample sizes, expected recoveries, and crit. comments on potential problem areas
