Abstract

Defines water quality in terms of chemistry, colour and sediment content, and discusses possible effects of forestry - particularly site preparation - on these criteria. Fertilisers are discussed, as is the use of herbicides and pesticides. Harvesting by clearfelling is outlined. The causes of increased acidity and aluminium concentrations remain unclear. -S.J.Yates
