This paper summarizes some of the main results of CIGRE WG C4.27 'Benchmarking of Power Quality Performance in Transmission Systems'. The results presented in this paper cover the work of the WG from December 2012 to October 2017 in relation to the general process of power quality performance benchmarking in transmission systems. The paper includes discussion on the principles of the PQ benchmarking process, purpose and motivation for benchmarking, gathering of PQ data, system characteristics and benchmarking against peers and past performance.
