The Relationship between Parenting Patterns and Discipline Character Building in 5-6 Year Old Children

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and the formation of disciplinary character in children aged 5-6 years at PAUD Melati DWP UNM. Effective and quality parenting can have a positive influence on child development. The research approach used is a quantitative approach with a type of correlation research.  Data collection techniques using questionnaires, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and prerequisite test analysis. The sample in this study were 62 children at PAUD Melati DWP UNM. Sampling using purposive sampling. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between parenting patterns and the character of discipline in children. Based on the calculated r value of 0.704 which shows that the value is greater than r table so that the number is included in the strong correlation category and the form of the relationship is positive. As the basis for decision making if the significance value <0.05 then the hypothesis H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan pembentukan karakter disiplin pada anak usia 5-6 tahun di PAUD Melati DWP UNM. Pola asuh yang efektif dan berkualitas dapat memberikan pengaruh positif bagi perkembangan anak. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasi.  Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan angket, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan uji prasyarat analisis. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu 62 orang anak di PAUD Melati DWP UNM. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara pola asuh orang tua terhadap karakter disiplin pada anak. Berdasarkan nilai r hitung sebesar 0,704 yang menunjukkan nilai tersebut lebih besar dari r tabel sehingga angka tersebut masuk pada kategori korelasi kuat dan bentuk hubungannya yaitu positif. Sebagaimana dasar pengambilan keputusan jika nilai signifikansi < 0,05 maka hipotesis H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak.
