Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: The primary objective of this review is to assess the effects of non-operative treatments such as hip spica or traction, and surgical treatments such as pinning in situ and open reduction and fixation for the treatment of slipped upper femoral epiphysis (SUFE). Secondary objectives include; assessing the effects of timing of the surgery on the outcome AVN, assessing the effects of prophylactic fixation of the contralateral unaffected side and finding predictors for development of contralateral slips in patients with SUFE.
